These delicious Oreo pudding cookies are a chocolate cookie base topped with a cream cheese vanilla pudding and sprinkled with crushed Oreos. UM YUM!
Did you ever eat dirt pudding as a kid? (Or if you’re anything like me, you’re still eating it as an adult. Shhhh. I won’t tell if you don’t.) You know, the dessert that sounds disgusting but it soooooo good? Well, my Oreo pudding cookies will take you right back to those dirt pudding eating days.
I love trying to take my favorite desserts and turning them into cookie form. Since dirt pudding is a fan favorite in our family, (and has been since I was like ten) I couldn’t pass up the challenge to turn it into a cookie. I don’t toot my own horn very often, but I’m just saying these Oreo pudding cookies give that old fashioned dirt pudding a run for it’s money. TOOT TOOT! No worries though, I think my heart (and belly) has room for both Oreo pudding desserts.
The other day we had one cookie left. I kid you not, I watched Nick, my husband, grab the cookie and slowly crouch down to hide behind the kitchen counters and eat it. Why you ask? He knew if our two year old daughter spotted him, he’d have to share. And I guess that day sharing wasn’t an option. Y’ALL! These cookies are so good you have to hide from your kids while eating them so you don’t have to share! LOL

HOW TO MAKE OREO PUDDING COOKIES
- Make the dough. Cream the butter and sugar. Add in eggs and vanilla extract until just combined. In a separate bowl combine flour, Oreo crumbs, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix together. Combine dry and wet ingredients. Mix until dough forms.
- Form into balls. About 1/4 cup of dough per ball because we don’t mess around here. Small cookies are for the weak. Place on a baking sheet.
- Bake in batches. I bake 6 cookies on a baking sheet at a time because I’m a chicken. Feeling brave? You can try 8.
- Make the pudding. Mix together milk and pudding package. In a separate bowl mix cream cheese and powdered sugar until well combined and no longer lumpy. Combine the two. Mix, mix, mix. Fold in cool whip.
- Top the cookies. Take that yummy pudding mixture and spoon or pipe it onto a cooled cookie. Sprinkle with Oreo crumbs.
These haven’t lasted long in our house at all. I’m certain they will be a crowd pleaser in your home. If you’re anything like my husband you may have to hide a few for yourself. And we absolutely do not judge. I hope these Oreo pudding cookies bring extra sweetness into your life.
Hugs & Cookies,
Kayla
QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS OREO PUDDING DESSERT RECIPE
Can these cookies be made smaller?
These cookies are huge. The size of my hand. If big cookies aren’t your jam, you can absolutely make them smaller. Try 2 tablespoons of dough instead of 1/4 cup. You’ll want to keep a close eye on your cookies while they’re baking. A smaller amount of dough will likely bake faster. Adjust accordingly.
Will the pudding make the cookie soggy?
If you leave the cookies out at room temp for a long period of time you’ll find that the cookie does start to get a little soggy. I recommend leaving your cookies in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. Once you take them out of the refrigerator, let them sit for 10 minutes before eating. Just trust me on this one! You also can make up your pudding mixture, leave it in the refrigerator, and then top the cookies later, prior to eating. I’ve made the cookies both ways and both work great.
Can you freeze these Oreo pudding cookies?
The cookie itself can definitely be frozen. Put the cookies in the freezer while they are in a single layer on a pan. Once the cookies are frozen, you can then stack them into an airtight container. Freezing them in a single layer first helps to make sure your cookies won’t stick together while in the container. I don’t recommend freezing the pudding mixture. I’d make that fresh.

Description
These delicious Oreo pudding cookies are a chocolate cookie base topped with a cream cheese vanilla pudding and sprinkled with crushed Oreos. SO YUMMY!
Ingredients
Cookies:
- 1 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 3 1/2 cup Oreos, approx. 30
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Pudding Mixture:
- 2 cups milk
- 3.4 oz package instant vanilla pudding
- 8 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 8 oz. cool whip, thawed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350º.
- Cream together butter and sugars until light and creamy. Approximately 1-2 minutes on medium high speed.
- Add eggs and vanilla to the mixture. Mix on medium speed until just combines. Approximately 15-30 seconds.
- Crush the Oreos until they are mostly crumbs. I use a blender for this. You could also put the Oreos in a gallon zip lock bag and crush with a rolling pin.
- In a separate bowl from the wet ingredients, combine 3 cups of crushed Oreos (save the remainder for later), flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Mix together.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients 1 cup at a time. Mix until fully combined on a medium speed.
- Roll 1/4 cup of dough into a ball, place on a baking sheet and gently push down until the dough is about 1 inch thick. I typically put 6 cookies on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes. (12 minutes is perfect for me) Remove and allow to cool on pan for 10 minutes before moving to a wire rack or parchment paper to finish cooling.
- While cookies are cooling, whisk together pudding mix and milk.
- In a separate bowl cream together cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Add to pudding mixture and mix until well combined.
- Fold cool whip into the cream cheese pudding mixture. Place in the refrigerator until all cookies are baked and cooled.
- Spoon or pipe the pudding mixture onto the cookies.
- Sprinkle with remaining Oreo crumbs.
- NOW EAT THAT DANG COOKIE GIRL!
Notes
- Make sure the cream cheese is room temperature. Otherwise the pudding mixture will be lumpy.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
- These Oreo pudding cookies are best served cold. Leave in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. Remove from the refrigerator approximately 10 minutes before eating.
- You can add a gummy worm to the top of the pudding mixture to make it an extra fun treat for your kiddos.
