Hello, I’m Kayla!
I’m so happy you’re here! It’s my hope that I can bring a little extra sweetness into your life through my cookie recipes and content.
Since I have you here, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I married my high school sweetheart in 2019. We live in a small town in Ohio with our two beautiful children. Our sweet babes are 16 months apart and are 2 and under. To say that they keep us on our toes would be an understatement. I love my little family. I can’t help but smile from ear to ear on a daily basis. This is what my 16 year old self dreamed about!
I went to college to become a teacher. And that’s exactly what I did for 4 years. I taught 1st grade and I LOVED it. I loved the kids, I loved my school, I loved my coworkers. I found so much joy in my job. Our world was rocked a little bit when we found out during the summer before starting my 5th year of teaching that our babysitter wasn’t going to be babysitting anymore and we couldn’t find another babysitter with openings in our area. Eventually we decided that it would be best for me to stay home with our daughter (our son was still in my belly). I wasn’t thrilled about this because like I said earlier, I loved my job and if I’m being honest, I didn’t think I would do well at being a stay at home mom. I put it all in God’s hands though. And boy am I glad I did.
So that’s how I ended up here. I jokingly told my husband I was going to take up baking as a hobby to keep myself entertained and to keep his sweet tooth happy. I have always been fascinated by sugar cookie decorating, so I decided to try it out. I fell in love with my first set and haven’t stopped baking them since. During this time I’ve also fallen in love with developing my own cookie recipes.
You know it’s crazy to me. When I found out I had to quit teaching, I was devastated. Fast forward a year and a half and I’ve found another passion that brings me so much joy and it allows me to be home with my babies. God sure laid his hands over my family. I wish I could go back to the girl who just turned her letter of resignation in, give her a big squeeze and tell her everything’s going to work out.
Thanks for being here. I hope that my little corner of the internet can bring a little extra joy into your life. I’m pretty biased, but I think a cookie can do just that!
Hugs & Cookies,
Kayla
